This is the original footage before MGM tried to cover up the catastrophic publicity with various cover stories. This is an incredibly tragic moment, but you can clearly see the munchkin hanging from a noose in the background of this scene. He's the dark silhouette swaying in the center of the blue sky background, between trees, above the heads of the Tin Man and Dorothy. Why did he hang himself on-screen for all the world to witness?
