It links the Institut de France and the central square (cour carrรฉe) of the Palais du Louvre. INSTITUT DE FRANCE : The Institut de France is a French learned society, grouping five acadรฉmies, including the Acadรฉmie Franรงaise. It was established in 1795 at the direction of the National Convention. Located on the Quai de Conti in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, the Institute manages approximately 1,000 foundations, as well as museums and chรขteaux open for visit. It also awards prizes and subsidies, which amounted to a total of over โฌ27 million per year in 2017.Most of these prizes are awarded by the Institute on the recommendation of the acadรฉmies. SAINT GERMAIN DES PRES : Saint-Germain-des-Prรฉs is one of the four administrative quarters of the 6th arrondissement of Paris, France, located around the church of the former Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prรฉs. Its official borders are the River Seine on the north, the rue des Saints-Pรจres on the west, between the rue de Seine and rue Mazarine on the east, and the rue du Four on the south. Residents of the quarter are known as Germanopratins. The quarter's cafรฉs include Les Deux Magots, Cafรฉ de Flore, le Procope, and the Brasserie Lipp, as well as many bookstores and publishing houses. In the 1940s and 1950s, it was the centre of the existentialist movement (associated with Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir).
