Minced mutton 1/4 kg 2. Broken raw rice 1 cup 3. Split green gram (de skinned) / moong dal 1/2 cup 4. Onion 1 large 5. Tomato 1 large 6. Green chillies 2 7. Coconut milk 1 cup 8. Mint leaves 9. Coriander leaves 10. Cinnamon 1 stick 11. Cloves 4 12. Cardamom 4 13. Cumin seeds 1 tsp 14. Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp 15. Ginger paste 1 tsp 16. Garlic paste 1 tsp 17. Sunflower oil 1/4 cup 18. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp 19. Salt..Required amount 20. Water 6 cups Method Take a broad bottom pan and add 1/4 cup oil..once the oil gets heated, add the cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamom.Add the chopped onion and saute till golden brown.Add the ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell goes off.Now add the turmeric powder, green chillies, coriander leaves, mint leaves and the chopped tomato and cook till the tomato gets mushy and the oil gets separated. Add the minced mutton, salt and garam masala powder and cook for 10 minutes with out adding water.Now add the moong dal and cook over a slow flame for 10 minutes, till the raw smell of the dal goes off.Add the rice and add 6 cups of water and cover the pan with a lid and cook till the minced mutton, rice and dal gets cooked and gets the porridge consistency.You can add more water, depending up on the texture of the mutton.once cooked, add the coconut milk and switch off the stove and keep aside.Take a tadka pan and add 1 tbsp of oil.once the oil gets heated, add 1 tbsp of cumin seeds and temper the porridge.Now our delicious Ramadan nombu kanji is ready to be served.
