Despite facing numerous natural disasters, the wall now spans an impressive 8,000 kilometres. 🚧 The primary reason behind the construction of this colossal wall was to defend against frequent invasions by the Mongols. The wall boasts an astounding 25,000 watchtowers. These towers were not merely for surveillance but also served as resting places for soldiers and storage for their weapons. 🏰 Before the construction of the Great Wall, the Silk Road was a well-known trade route. However, after the wall was built, taxes were imposed on trade, significantly boosting the country’s revenue. 💰 In 2008, Beijing, China, hosted the Olympics, and during that time, the iconic Olympic Stadium was constructed.
