Namaskara Devru,
Welcome to Dekai, West Papua, Indonesia, where you'll discover the fascinating story of the Korowai tribe. This isolated tribe had once lived in complete seclusion,, with no knowledge of the outside world, until the 1970s. Their way of life was entirely different from the modern world,, and they had practiced cannibalism for generations. However, with the arrival of modern machinery and contact with outsiders,, they slowly realized the inhumanity of their practices and abandoned them. Today,, the Korowai tribe has transformed,, adopting a more sustainable way of life,, and is a testament to the resilience of humanity.
Our journey began by travelling on a boat along the river, which was surrounded by a dense forest. The journey was filled with challenges, such as fallen trees and overgrown plants,, but we managed to reach the BOBO Village, where we met some of the locals. We then ventured further into the heart of the Korowai tribe,, where we were greeted with a warm welcome.
The tribe's way of life is unique and awe-inspiring. They live in self-built houses, perched high up in the trees, using only the resources provided by the forest. Their homes are made from tree bark and wooden planks,, held together with vines and ropes. Despite their primitive living conditions, the tribe has managed to adapt and thrive in the harsh environment.
The Korowai tribe used to hunt and kill other humans, but now they have adopted a more sustainable way of life. They hunt for food in the wild,, but they also eat eggs from forest chickens, beetles, and vegetables that they have grown themselves. It's a complete departure from their past,, and it's heartening to see them embrace a more peaceful existence.
Visiting the Korowai tribe was an incredible experience, and it's amazing to think that they are still living in the 21st century with a completely different way of life. The tribe's transformation is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of human beings,, and it's a reminder of the power of change.
In conclusion, our journey to Dekai, West Papua,, Indonesia was an eye-opening experience. Witnessing the Korowai tribe's transformation from their brutal past to a more sustainable future was incredible. The tribe's resilience and adaptability is inspiring, and it's a reminder of how humanity can change for the better. This is a journey that we'll never forget,, and we hope that you get the chance to experience it too
